Golf Tournament Benefits FFA STEVENS (Lancaster Co.) Where can you get lunch, a day of golfing, a steak dinner, and support a great cause all for just $75? At the second annual Moss’s Fore FFA Golf Tournament! This year’s tournament will be held on August 29 at Fox Chase Golf Course in Stevens. It seems appropriate that the tournament, which will benefit more than 7,000 Pennsylvania FFA members, will be held on the site of a former dairy farm. The tournament committee’s goal is to bring together 144 golfers for a fun-filled day that will also raise funds to support the activities of the Pennsylvania FFA Foundation. The mission of the Pennsylvania FFA Foundation is to raise funds to help defray the costs of FFA lead ership activities, participation of Are You Prepared. Pennsylvania teams at regional and national competition, and rec ognition of outstandingFFA mem ber accomplishments. According to co-chairmen Sam Sherk and Nancy Campbell, the primary purpose of the tournament is to raise funds. However, it also serves as a “friend raiser.” Spon sors and players will be able to interact with the state FFA officers and local ag teachers who will be participating. This interaction helps develop a better understand ing of the benefits of the FFA and the positive effects that the FFA has on future agricultural leaders. The tournament day will begin with lunch served at the golf course at 11:30 a.m., the shotgun scramble start is scheduled for 1 p.m., and the day will wind down with a social hour beginning at 4:30 p.m. followed by a buffet steak dinner, awards presentation, and auction. Prizes will be awarded to IS teams, and individu al awards will also be presented for various skill contest?, including a par-three contest sponsored by Uni-Mart. Non-golfers can participate by attending the dinner auction at $3O per person. The auction that will follow the dinner and awards pre sentation will feature items such as Flyers, Phillies, and Penn State tickets. Some of the additional auction items that have been donated include rose gardens, a wine gift pack. Moss’s gift certifi cates, FFA and Heritage Custom Kitchen’s Winross trucks, and a football signed by Penn State coach Joe Paterno.
