Elderberry Pie
1 pint elderberries, fresh or canned
IVt cups apple butter
V* cup sugar
2 cups milk
6 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Pinch cloves
Combine all ingredients. Mix. Fill unbaked pie shell. Bake
at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees
and bake until firm.

Vi cup shortening
Pinch salt
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vinegar
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups sifted flour
IVi cups diced rhubarb
Topping:
Vi cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Cream brown sugar and shortening. Add salt, egg, and
vanilla. Mix until smooth. Mix milk, vinegar, and baking soda in
another bowl, let set a few moments. Add milk mixture alter
nately with flour to creamed sugar and shortening mixture.
Fold in rhubarb. Place in a well-greased 9x13-inch pan.
Sprinkle with topping. Bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes.
