NORTHAMPTON

It’s a real family affair at Greggo Farms, located south of Pen Argyl.
Brothers Frank, Joe, Vince, and nephew Joseph are all Involved. Oh, yes,
and father Joe, Sr., who Is 75 years young still milks cows too. This family
farms 500 acres in Northampton County, and they milk 400 Holstelns that
average over 20,000 lbs. They contract their heifer calves out to be raised by
neighbors who keep the calves until they are ready to come into the milking
herd. This arrangement has worked well and eliminates heifer care on the
milking farm. They milk In a double 10. They do everything around the farm
from field work and machinery repairs to milking and herd care. You need to
be able to do everything around the farm to be successful. And it takes a lot
of cooperation.
