Dairy Of Distinction Winners
Len-Lyn Holsteins, based in Stevens, Lancaster County, maintains about
150 tillable acres and milks 65 registered Holsteins from tlestall to pipeline.
Philip Crouse maintains another 75 young stock. DHIA averages are 20,300
pounds milk, 645 pounds protein, and 718 pounds fat. Philip said that the
farm is a fourth generation farm, which has always been a dairy. Philip’s
parents, Galen and Carolyn, help on the farm, In addition to Philip’s wife
Gall and two children, Lane, 8 and Adrlane, 5. Philip said that although he
recently scaled down the herd size, he is looking to expand the herd In the
future.
