Graves Joins York
Farm
YORK (York Co.) York
Farm Credit, ACA announced the
addition fcf Amanda Graves to its
staff of loan officers. She works
with dairy accounts and other
farm customers in the Franklin
County area.
A native of Massachusetts,
Amanda developed an interest in
dairy science by working on her
grandparents’ dairy farm.
Throughout high school and col
lege, she judged dairy cattle and
was active in 4-H dairy clubs.
Amanda was graduated from
Virginia Polytcchnical Institute
and State University in 1992 with
a bachelor’s in dairy science. For
the past year, she has been work
ing for Farm Credit in western
New York.

“Industry must accurately mea
sure high-value traits before pro
ducers can be paid for them,” said

the National Beef Instrument As

Instrument assessment involves
the use of various tools and instru
ments to measure important char
acteristics of beef. The goal is to
develop tools to accurately mea
sure the factors that predict the
quality and eating pleasure of
beef, such as marbling, composi
tion and tenderness. Part of the in

Harris
Joins Staff
DENVER (Lancaster Co.)
Dr. Peter Harris, D.V.M., has re
cently joined the staff of food ani
mal veterinarians with Hutchin
son, Trayer and Reed Veterinary
Associates.
Harris has his bachelor’s and
veterinarian degrees from North
Carolina State University. He has
worked in a predominantly dairiy
practice in Williamsburg.

Collector Card Series
MOLINE, 111. Deere &
Company recently announced a
new collector card series to its
dealer network. The cards, labeled
“1994 Series.” are available to the
public through John Deere dealers
in 100-card complete sets and
10-card foil packs.
The 2'A x 314 -inch cards depict
both recent and antique agricultur
al equipment such as tractors,
combines, cultivation equipment,
plus planting and harvesting
equipment. Other cards feature
Deere’s industrial and lawn and
grounds care products as well as
important events from the com
pany’s 157-year history.
Nolan Ryan, recently retired
Texas Rangers pitcher who holds
several major league marks in
cluding seven no-hitters, has
agreed to participate with Deere in
the company’s first set of trading
cards. Ryan signed 800 cards that
feature him with his John Deere
machinery in various locations on
