Windy Hill Goat Dairy (Jacob
Fisher’s) will be the site of the
Lancaster County Goat Field Day
on Saturday, July 16, from 1
p.m.-4 p.m.
The program topic is “I Just
Goat A Goat. Now What Do I
Do?” Discussions will include
information on goat care, includ
ing feeding, health, and housing.
Demonstrations will be provided
on dehoming, hoof trimming, and
administering boluses.
Also, goat information, milk
marketing, making goat cheeses,
hay quality, and food and fellow
ship will also be included at the
field day.
Speakers include Nancy Win
ning, veterinarian: Denise Goss,
Red Gate Farm, Palmyra; Jacob
Fisher, Windy Hill Goat Dairy;
and Glenn Shirk, extension agent.
Producers should note that a loc
al milk marketing potential is
developing in the New Holland
area. According to a release from
the Lancaster extension office, a
local cheese processor wants to
purchase goat milk locally and
work with producers who are
interested.
