Locust Grove Auction To Feature Art Sale

tion of art will highlight the 20th
annual Chicken Barbecue and
Country Auction at Locust Grove
Mennonite School, Smoketown.
The barbecue takes place Friday,
July 15, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The auction begins at 9 a.m. Satur
day, July 16, and continues

ning at 12 noon Saturday. Many
well-known artists will be repre
sented, including Thomas Her

will feature the sale of quilts,
crafts, Winross trucks, homemade
food, and lawn, garden, and

Saturday afternoon will entitle the
buyer to dinners, lodging, vaca
tions, gifts, golfing, entertain
ment, and special services.
Among die special items to be
auctioned are a wood carving by
Abe Rissler of East Earl; a large
dollhouse with porch, balcony,
and five lighted rooms by Ben
Brubaker of Lancaster, a wooden
historic ship model by Atglen resi
dent William Salsbury; and a fine
cane made of 59 different woods
by Jim Jack Hickam of Bristol,
TN.
The items and services are
donated by hundreds of busines
ses, churches, and individuals on
behalf of the school. A “silent auc
tion” of selected items Friday
evening from 6 to 8 p.m. is
planned for those who prefer that
style of bidding.
