PHILADELPHIA The
eighth annual Pennsylvania Fair
was held at the Philadelphia Parte
Racetrack recently. Approximate
ly 200 different exhibitors partici
pated in the event
Several hundred entries into the
competitive exhibits created a
colorful array of homemade and
home-grown products. Along with
the competitive exhibits, four
showing the Cheviot cham
pion in both the 4>H and open
sheep shows.

Record Set At National
Jersey Heifer Sale
REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio
Topping last year’s average of
$2,992, the 1994 edition of the
National Jersey Heifer Sale posted
an average of $3,353, a new re
cord.
The sale was held June 20 in
San Antonio, Texas, in conjunc
tion with the annual meetings of
The American Jersey Cattle Club
and National All-Jersey Inc. This
was the First sale ever to be held
on the famous river walk on the
San Antonio River.
The 48 heifers sold averaged
$3,333.13 with the top price of
$lO,lOO paid for the consignment
of Kurt and Carol Alberti, Wen
dell, Idaho. AU Tildies Berretta
Tincia-ET, a three-month-old
daughter of Mason Boomer Soon

George Dorsey of Jersey Pride,
Bozeman, Mont., was the volume
buyer purchasing eight head at
$22,150.
Eight percent of the gross sale
price from animals sold in the Na
tional Heifer Sale is used to fund
the Jersey Youth Programs. Co
chairmen of the event were Ralph
Frcrichs, LaGrange, TX, and Kris
Koon, Brashear, TX. The sale was
managed by Jersey Marketing
Service, with Merlin Woodruff of
Ohio as the auctioneer.
