LIGONIER (Westmoreland
Co.) Saturday, July 9 will be
the date, and Laurel Valley Farms,
here in Ligonier, will be the loca
tion for the 1994 Annual Cattle
men’s Summer Field Day.
Intensive grazing, fencing and
watering systems, quality assur
ance and selection for complete
production, characteristics will be
the main topics. The field day will
be at the Laurel Valley Farms, just
south of Ligonier, with registra
tion at 9 a.m. The annual Pennsyl
vania Junior Simmental show will
start at 9 a.m.
Tours of the farm will begin at
9:30 a.m. and will include obser
vations of intensive grazing, fenc
ing, and watering systems. The
tours and demonstrations will also
include observations and discus
sions of different types of cattle,
and how these cattle fit into meet
ing the needs of each segment of
the modem beef cattle industry.

Cattlemen’s Field Day Planned

will be the featured speaker. Shal

beef cattle quality assurance pro
grams will be made by Tammy
Balthaser, industry relations coor
dinator, Pennsylvania Beef Coun

has received a Fulbright Scholar
ship to work in Mexico during the
1994-1995 academic year.
