LancMtor Fanning, Saturday, Juna 11, 1994-815 Dairy Farmers, Pirates Team To Promote Dairy HARRISBURG (Dauphin Co.) Pennsylvania’s dairy fanners are continuing their allegiance with the Pittsburgh Pirates, utiliz ingithe National League team for added exposure and increased awareness of milk and dairy pro ducts. The Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Program will be a sponsor of the team’s radio net work and Pirate Shortstop Jay Bell will be an “official” milk spokesman. “We enjoy the exposure that the Pirates bring to our program,” says Harold Shaulis, Pennsylvania Dairy Board member from Some rset. “We have an excellent spokesman in Jay Bell and our tie in with the Pirates is a natural combination.” Pennsylvania Dairy will be fea tured in all game broadcasts and the Pirates will also make special mentions during June Dairy Month. For his part, Bell will be the focus of advertising messages. His “Bad Dreams” about a day without milk and several new themes will be used for the 1994 season. The tie-in between milk, the Pirates and baseball is natural, since so many families attend baseball games. Along with the radio network, Pennsylvania’s roadsides will be graced by Jay Bell’s milk bill boards. Dairy fanners message is simple “Jgy Drinks Milk and It Shows.” Bell’s recent Gold Glove and Roberto Clemente Awards indicate that in his case, drinking milk has really shown to be effective. Pennsylvania Dairy’s sponsor ship continues throughout the entire baseball season. The bill boards will be on display during the summer months throughout central Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Dairy Prom otion Program is supported by over 4,000 dairy fanners in the state. Pennsylvania Dairy con ducts generic dairy product prom otion programs including adver tising, nutrition education, and consumer events.
