Despite problems with frost and the difficulty of raising berries to /each their prime on the Roundup *Day, 4-H’ers who persevered to raise top qualjty berries this year were rewarded by the generous bids of the Rotarians. Top bidding for the grand champion berries rose to $3OO an incredible price according to 12-year-old Diana Erb who awa kened at 4:50 a.m. to pick her prize-winning berries. “I picked five flats of berries and spread them out on the picnic table. From those, I picked the big gest to bring,” Diana said. A sixth-grader at Locust Grove School, Diana also helps her parents, Jim and Romainc Erb, at the Brooklawn Farm Market located along Route SOI.
