Returns Home
To Rose-Edge Farm
MIRIAM WERT
Juniata Co. Correspondent
PORT ROYAL (Juniata Co.)
It may have been the long way
'round, but Barbara Graham final
ly came back to stay on the Rose-
Edge Farm in Spruce Hill Town
ship where she hgd grown up.
Not only did she come back to
stay, but she started to farm with
her parents and finally took over
the farm with her husband in
1985.
But let’s go back to the begin
ning.
Barb, daughter of Jim and Mary
(Mamie) Graham, graduated from
Juniata High School in 1973.
When asked at what age she knew
she wanted to be a farmer, she said
Let's hear it for our Dairy
farmers, those dedicated
men and women who put in
long, hard hours each day
to see that we're supplied
with the freshest products
throughout the year. Their
efforts allow us to enjoy the
best in nutrition and quality
at the most competitive
prices possible, and we're
proud to congratulate them
on a job well done.

she always liked farming. But in
high school in the early seventies,
“It just wasn’t the thing for a
woman to do.”
Barb went to the State Univer
sity of New York in Delhi, gradu
ating from a two-year course in
Veterinary Science Technology.
From there she went to the state of
Indiana where she worked as an
assistant for a small animal vet
Next, Barb moved to West La
fayette, Ind. and worked for Pur
due University at their veterinar
ian research facility, where she su
pervised four full-time and 16
part-time people. With a chuckle,
she related that everything was
there, from mice to monkeys!
