Workers’ Comp Safety Group Off To Fast Start
SYRACUSE, N.Y. During
its first month of operation, more
than 300 farmers have signed up
for the Agri-Service Farm Safety
Group in Pennsylvania, while
hundreds of others have requested
information on the program that
allows farmers to purchase work
ers’ compensation insurance at
substantial savings.

least a thousand calls from the
agriculture community about this
program.”
The safety group, which is
guaranteed to lower premiums, is
the result of a joint endeavor be
tween Agri-Service and the Penn
sylvania State Workmen’s Insur
ance Fund. The new program be
came available April 1.
Additionally, according to
Goodrich, the Agri-Service Farm
Safety Group has been allowed to
expand us eligibility requirements
to include farmers with veal, hog
and chicken operations, kpown as
Code 0034. Other codes may be
come eligible in the near future, he
said. -
Ever-increasing workers’ com
pensation rates contribute signifi
cantly to the cost of operating an
agribusiness. Within a safety
group, individual policies are
pooled together, thus enabling
participants to realize significant
