announced that the 1995 state con
vention will be held on January 9,
with a theme of “Families.” The
state project she has selected to
focus on during her three-year
tenure pertains to the strengthen
ing of families. Spring Rally for
1995 will be hosted by the past
state presidents, with the date and
site to be announced.
Tour chairman Edith Diehl
reminded members of the Socie
ty’s upcoming tour to Branson,
Missouri, scheduled for June 9-17.

18,000 of the cookbooks have been sold in three years,
with the book now in its eighth printing. Cookbook sales
have raised more than $35,000 for the Society's scholar
ship fund.

FFA HAPPENINGS
Cedar Crest FFA
Participates in Land Judging
The Lebanon County FFA land
judging contest was recently held
in the Eastern Lebanon County
School District at the Victor Zei
gler farm.
Fifty-nine contestants from
Lebanon County chapters of the
FFA participated.
The contestants scoring took
into consideration such aspects of
the land as slope, stoniness, tex
ture, depth of soil, and internal
drainage.
The students also had to iden
tify conservation practices to be
used on the land and hazards in
special uses such as home build
ing and ponds.
The Cedar Crest placings were
as follows: Ryan Gates Finished
first with a score of 227, Dan Atk
ins place second with a score of
222.5, Jeff Zimmerman placed
fourth with a score of 200.5, Bran
don Hardy placed Fifth with a
score of 200.5, Chris Kepley

placed sixth with a score of 191.5,
Joe Hershey placed seventh with a
score of 191.5, Wendy Atkins
placed eighth with a score of
191.5, Charlie Aurentz placed
ninth with a score of 189.5, Tim
Showers placed thirteenth with a
score of 165.5, and Jon Hamish
placed fifteenth with a score of
161.5.
The team placed first.
After the contest, milk was
served compliments of the Leba
non County Conservation District.

Service judged the event.
