Celebrate 80 Years

YORK (York Co.) Four
scores of the Pennsylvania Society
of Farm Women was celebrated at
the group’s 29th Spring Rally,
held May 11 at the York
Fairgrounds.
Song, scripture, humor, and fel
lowship marked the 80th anniver
sary celebration of the Society,
founded in 1914 by Somerset
Sounty farm woipan Flora Black.
Hosting the more than 400 mem
bers from across the state joining
in the celebration was the York
County Society and its president
Carolyn Neal, Dillsburg.
Soloist Mary Burns and her
piano accompanies! Ruth Kreitzer
opened the day-long program,
which focused on the theme “Four
scores have passed,” A former

Pennsylvanian, Mary Burns
recently became associated with
the Belhesda Mission, an''adult
rehabilitation center. With her
powerful singing voice and appro
priate scriptural passages, she
touched on the role of women and
mothers as presented in the Bible.
Robert and Vera Kissinger’s
inspirational comedy team also
brought a message, but in a com
pletely different style. The
husband-wife team from Mount
ville, Lancaster County, kept their
Farm Women audience laughing
while sharing thoughts about what
is inside a person being more
important than the outside
appearance.
