Pennsylvania citizens have been a part of the Commonwealth's low-level radioactive
waste regulatory program since the mid-1980s. The low-level waste law and regula
tions contain some of the most stringent and unique requirements in the country and
reflect the Commonwealth's commitment to address citizen needs and concerns. The
broadest public involvement in the regulatory program will achieve the best results.
