YORK (York Co.) - Two
York County young women will
compete for the county’s Dairy
Princess title during the annual
pageant beginning at 8 p.m. Satur
day, May 21, at the 4-H Center.
Vying for the princess crown
are Kelly Jo Myers, Thomasville,
and Angela Mummert, Glen Rock.
Tanya Thoman, Dallastown, is in
the running for the Dairy Maid ti
de, while Dairy Miss contestants
are Lisa Jones, Shrewsbury, and
Nicole Marks, Airville.
Kelly Jo Myers, 17, is the
daughter of Morrell and Carolyn
Myers. A junior at Spring Grove
Area High School, she is secretary
of her class an a member of the
school track team. Following her
graduation in 1995, she plans to
major in veterinary science at
Penn State. She helps on the fami
ly’s Moo-Vin Meadows 35-acre
hay and livestock farm and works
part time at Lincoln Speedway.
Active in 4-H for several years,
Kelly is a member of the county
lamb, beef, swine, and Southwest
dairy clubs and owns and exhibits
two Brown Swiss dairy animals.
She is active in her church youth
group. Curtendy serving as York
County’s Dairy Maid, Kelly has
participated in a number of local
dairy promotional events.
Angela Mummert, 16, is the
daughter of Dennis and Diane
Mummert. She is a sophomore at
Dallastown Area High School and
plans to attend college following
her 1996 graduation. Angela is
employed part time at Bupplynn
Dairy Farms.
An honors student, Angela is a
member of the Dallastown year
book staff. She plays softball, is a
participant in the Multiple Scle
rosis annual walkathon, and has
been a hospital candy striper. She
previously attended Red Lion
High School where she was a
manager for the soccer and bask
etball teams.
Dairy Miss competitor Tanya
Thoman, 14. is the daughter of
Gary and Gail Thoman. An
eighth-grader at Dallastown Mid
dle School, Tanya plays in the
symphonic and marching bands,
sings with the select chorus and
mixed ensemble and is a member
of the volleyball team.
Tanya is a member of the York
County Junior Holstein club.

bowl. She owns and exhibits her
string of 10 registered Holsteins
and helps with milking and' calf
feeding on the family’s Garwill
Farm. Tanya is presently a Dairy
Maid and has participated in vari
ous promotional activities.
Dairy Miss conestant Nicole
Marks, 8, is the daughter of Mel
vin and Barbara Marks and a
second-grade student at Clearview
Elementary School. She is Clover
bud member of the the Airville
Milk and Money Dairy Club and
owns one registered Holstein heif
er. Nicole helps with calf-raising
chores of the Marks family’s
SO-head Holstein herd and enjoys
playing softball with the Brogue
area girls’ team.
Lisa Jones, Dairy Miss contest
ant, is the 8-year<tld daughter of
Patty and Dennis Jones. She is in

the second grade at Southern Ele
mentary School, a Cloverbud
member of the Airville Milk and
Money Dairy Club and the owner
of a registered Holstein calf. Lisa
helps to feed the calves and cows
on the farm of her uncle. Leonard
Greek, and is a collector of minia
ture cows and cow items. She has
been a Dairy Miss for the past
year.
To help with fundraising to sup
port the county’s dairy promotion
al activities, tickets to the pageant
are being sold at the cost of SS,
with free admission to anyone un
der 16 years of age. Tickets are
available from county coordinator
