Four Shows Announced
For Allentown Fair
The Great Allentown Fair an
nounces four of its six grandstand
concerts for the 1994 exposition
running Aug. 30-Sept. S.
Kicking off the shows as he did
last year, singer-songwriter Barry
Manilow returns to the Fair Wed
nesday, Aug. 31. Country music
fans get a heaping-helping of en
tertainment starting with Alan
Jackson on Friday, Sept. 2, con
tinuing with Vince Gill on Satur
day, Sept. 3 and culminating with
Reba McEntire and John Michael
Montgomery on the same bill for
Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 5.
Tickets for all four concerts go
on sale at the Fair Box Office
starting at 8 a.m. on Tuesday. May
24. They also can be purchased

Barry Manilow played to a full
grandstand during his first-ever
Fair appearance last year. He
plans to vary this year’s show
which is a continuation of his
“Greatest Hits” tour.
Most of the 25 consecutive
top-40 hits he composed Manilow
sings and performs at the piano.
On lively renditions like “Copaca
bana” and “It’s A Miracle,” Mani
low joins back-up singers and
dancers in lavish stage produc
tions.
Alan Jackson has gone from un
known to top country superstar
status in rapid pace. Another sing
er-songwriter, Jackson scored big
with his “Here In The Real
World” single in 1980. He follow
ed with “Don’t Rock The Juke

Reba McEntire who, with seven,
tied him for the most award nom
inations. He picked up best album
of the year honors for “A Lot
About Living’ (And a Little ’Bout
Love).” His three aibuips in four

1985, Vince Gill hit a career high
capturing the Country Music As
sociation’s (CMA's) coveted En
tertainer of the Year Award for

shows begin at 7:30 p.m.
The Fair Box Office, located
east of the grandstand on the fair
grounds at 17th and Chew streets,
will be open from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. on
Tuesday. May 24, from 1-7 p.m.
Wednesday-Friday, May 25-28,
and from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. every
Saturday thereafter.
