Junior Hereford Expo To Be Held At Rocking Chair Ranchi KANSAS CITY, Mo. Junior Hereford members and their fami lies will be “Rocking in Texas” July 20-23 at All-American Junior Hereford Expo to be held at Rock ing Chair Ranch, Ft McKavett, Texas. The Rocking Chair Ranch’s Lipan Spring Division, located approximately 25 miles southeast of San Angelo, will serve as the headquarters for all Expo activities. As a veteran Expo host from 1985, Rocking Chair Ranch own er L.C. Whitehead, managers Har ley Loso and Mark and Theresa McClintock, along with many Texas Hereford supporters, plan to show guests true “Texas-style hospitality.” Muph attention will surround the show ring where junior exhibi tors will compete for national rec ognition in die heifer, bred-and owned bull, bred-and-owned heif er, steer and cow/calf divisions. Anticipated record totals of more than 300-head of cattle from 28 states are expected to be exhibited. Judge of the heifer and cow/calf divisions will be Kevin Jensen, Courtland, Kan., Chris Skaggs, College Station, Texas, will judge the bred-and-owned heifer and bull and steer divisions. In addition to the cattle shows, the National Showmanship Con test will be held. In its 23rd year, the contest allows only one indivi dual per state to compete. Traditionally, the contestants have been evaluated on their fit ting and show ring skills; howev er, for the second time in the his tory of the competition, contes tants will be judged on their clipping, fitting and showing abilities. Rocking Chair Ranch provided the opportunity at the 1985 Expo and, once again, will provide hal ter broke and undipped heifers for the competition. A new addition this year will be a junior and intermediate show manship contest for junior mem bers 14 years and younger.
