Cookbook Offers Something For Every Tasfe

Hot off the press is the Manheim
Christian Day School Cookbook.
Marty Smacker said that more
than 900 recipes sent in by the
school’s patrons and friends are
included in the hard-cover
cookbook.
Originally, she and the commit
tee anticipated receiving about 400
recipes.
“But the project just
mushroomed,” she said.
It grew so big that the original
plan to publish a spiral-bound
cookbook was squelched.
‘The company said the book
was too large to be spiral-bound,”
Marty said.
Instead, the book was hard
bound. But, of interest to codes,
the book lays nicely open to a
selected recipe.
Only 1,000 copies of the cook
books have been printed. The
recipes are easy to read and attrac
tively printed with the name of
each contributor appearing with
the recipe.
Included is a special section on
party planning, which includes
diagrams of napkin folding, buffet
settings, and six easy steps to make
a perfect pie. Guides include freez
ing, herb usage, diets, calories,
first aid, and cooking charts. Sug
gested Bible passages are listed for
those who are discouraged, anxi
ous, tempted, or facing numerous
other dilemmas.
The recipes were collected and
sent to the publishing company in
October 1993. After the galleries
were printed, the cookbook com
mittee proofread the recipes. In
addition to Marty, the committee
responsible for the cookbook
included Bev Hosier, Carole Zei
glcr, and Twila Rohrer.
