The Bedford County annual
Junior Holstein Field Day was
held on Wednesday, April 13, at
the Charles Hershberger farm near
Woodbury.
Practicing their FFA learned
judging skills were about 110 stu

Scholarships
FLEETWOOD (Berks Co.)
The conservation district has
awarded two individuals with
$l,OOO toward their first year of
college. This is the seventh year
that these scholarships have been
awarded to outstanding youth in
Berks County.
Camilla M. Elfazzani will be
graduated from Conrad Weiser
High School this year and plans to
continue her education at North
land College in Ashland, Wis.
Camilla is the daughter of M.A.
and Jean Elfazzani of Wemers
ville.
Camilla has been involved with
several school organizations in
cluding marching and concert
bands. National Honor Society,
the Key Club, county band and or
chestra, the computer club, and
the student environmental action
club. She attended the Don Hart
man Conservation Leadership
School and the Penn State Conser
vation Camp.
The essay she wrote in her ap
plication shows how much she ap
preciates the environment and
how important it is for us to appre
ciate and conserve what we have
for our future enjoyment and sur
vival.

Northern Bedford Captures Holstein Trophies

home the junior awards while
Tara Godshall and Jerry Conley
were senior winners.

continue her education at the Uni
versity Park Campus of the Penn
sylvania State University School
of Agriculture with a major in
agricultural science. Her plans in
clude becoming a doctor of veter
inary medicine.
She is the daughter of Debra
Dougherty of Elverson.
Heather has been an officer of
the FFA chapter four years. She
has won honors in many categor
ies at the county, regional and
state levels. She served as a coun
ty FFA officer two years. She was
awarded the Keystone Degree in
1994.
She is a member of the National
Honor Society and has served on
many active committees. She has
won many record book contests
and competed in judging contests
at local and state fair events. She
was a member of the Berks Coun
ty Envirothon winning team and
also placed well in the state En
virothon.
Her essay shows she realizes
what a complex ecosystem we live
in and how each part of that sys
tem is important to all the other
parts.
