Junior Dairy Club activities were reported on by Adriane Ead er, President of the Club. 1993 was an excellent year for Juniors in Frederick County; the Club won the Large Herdsman Award, the 1993 Hoard’s Dairyman Cow Judging Contest in their Division, and placed 7th overall in Judging at the National level. Congratula tions went to the Frederick County Junior 4-H Dairy Judging Team, consisting of Andrea Hood, Jarrod Butall, Janell Guyton, and An drew Lenhart, which placed first overall in their category at the State level, the Intermediate 4-H Team, comprised of Amanda Val entine. Darren Wolf, Carena Guy ton, and Erin Burall, which came in second at the state contest, and to the Senior 4-H Team of Holly Burall, Jody Bell, Annette Sum mers, and Joshua Grossnickle, who placed first overall and were State Champions. The Brunswick FFA Team: Kelli Savage, Dee Guyton, Holly Butall, and Abby Fawley, were also State Cham pions. Five Frederick County Juniors were Record Book Win ners at the State level, and had been recognized at the recent State Convention: Andrea Hood, Amanda Lenhart, Andy Coveil, Darren Wolf, and Darren Rems burg. 1993 Frederick County Fair Fitting and Showing winners hon ored included Erin Burall, Inter mediate, and Andrea Hood, Junior. Both recipients received show halters. Holly Burall took top honors in the Senior Fitting and Showing category at the County Fair, and was awarded a Holstein model cow. Distinguish ed Junior Members for 1993 were Holly Burall and Dec Guyton, who together won the Outstanding Holstein Youth Award. A 1993 Progressive Breeders Registry Award went to K. Scott Hood, 1 year, and 1993 Progressive Genetics Awards were given to K. Scott Hood and Allen Brothers, both for 3 years. Ron Heffner had the All-Ameri can Winter Yearling; Hill Pine- Jed Caria. ■ -Jk\* L ' Michael Allen Is the new President of the Frederick County Holstein Association. Allen was past Vice Presi dent. Mrs. Hill also shared highlights of the recent State Convention with the group. She said the Con vention had been a success. New Officers elected were Charles lager. President, and Jason Myers, Vice President Mrs. Hill was also re-elected as Secretary-Treasurer. Next year the Convention will be held in Westminster in early May. Stan Fultz, Frederick County Cooperative Extension Service Dairy Agent presented DHIA Production awards, 305-day re cords. Awards went to: Taylor- Made Farm for High Herd (20-90 cows), 33.7 cows, 24,649 lbs. ECM; K. Scott Hood, 2nd Highest Herd (20-90 cows), 52.6 cows, 22,338 lbs. ECM; Dave and Carol Doody, High Herd (over 90 cows) 117.7 cows, 25,874 lbs. ECM; Donald L. Wilcom, 2nd Highest Herd (over 90 cows), 139.5 cows, 23,545 lbs. ECM; Dave and Carol Doody, High Two-Year-Old, Tul ip-Pond Simon Gala, 29,549 lbs. ECM; O. Clayton Smith, High Three-Year-Old, Waterloo Count Mandy, 34,849 lbs.
