March for their annual spring
meeting at Hoss’s Steak and Sea
House in Lewistown.

ler Scholarship, an
award of $3,000 to be
given to a deserving col
lege dairy graduate pur
suing business adminis
tration studies for the
master’s degree.
The scholarship was
begun in 1984 in the
name of the former exe
cutive secretary of the
Holstein Association.
Those who wish to
contribute to the scho
larship fund, can send
checks directly to Steve
Kerr, current executive
secretary of the Asso
ciation.
The selected recipient
wilt be announced in
June. Eligibility re
quirements are as fol
lows:
1. Obtain scholarship
forms available from
Office of Dean at Agri
cultural Colleges.
2. Send transcripts of
grades with application.
3. Recipient should
be under 30 years of
age.
4. Recipient should
rank academically in
upper one-third of
graduates granted B.S.
degrees.
5. Submit supporting
letters of appraisal of
candidates by Agricul
tural Dean.
6. Submit current
photo of candidate.
7. Send application to
be received by Steve
Kerr, Holstein Associa
tion, Brattleboro, VT,
by May 15, 1994.

Farm Bureau. Action was put on
hold because attendance was two
members short of the 20 needed
for a quorum.

Guy Donaldson, a fruit farmer
from Adams County, said encour
aging involvement from the group
in attendance is a little like preach
ing to the choir. “You are here be
cause you are already involved,”
he said.
Donaldson said legislators in
Harrisburg and Washington look
forward to meeting with the far
mers’ association because the or
ganization has grown and is well
respected. He encouraged mem
bers to stay informed on issues

should give the non-farm sector a
chance to buy into the process.
Donaldson said farmers com
prise less than 2 percent of the
population and that Pennsylvania
lost 6,000 farms in the past 10
years. "We need to stay strong for
the survival of the industry. We
cannot let others speak for us in
agriculture,” he said.
