Miss Magic Flair Is Grand At S
(Continued from Pago A 1)
Barbara Reisinger said that Flair
has been doing well in the show
ring, especially since freshening
last August. In the September Pa.
Fall Championship show, she was
grand champion, and also won the
state futurity.
That same week, she was shown
in the Eastern National Holstein
show and stood second overall.
Earlier, at the Pa. Holstein'
Southeastern Championship, she
also won her class and was grand
champion.
As far as production, Falir is cur
rently milking a'bout 95 pounds per
day and is projected to about
27,000 pounds of milk on a
305-day lactation. Her component
percentages have been running
about 3.3 percent fat and 3 percent
protein.
Her dam was owned by Barbara
Reisinger, and when Reisinger left
her family’s farm several years
ago, she worked out a deal with
friend Russell Miller, Heidi’s
father, that Russell would get half
interest in Finesse, a calf at the
time, in return for his care for her.
In the meantime. Finesse (twice
reserve All-Pennsylvania), was
bred by Heidi and Barbara to
Romandale Magic, and Flair Was
produced.
Russell kept has kept Flair until
she was 2-year-old and then Barba
ra brought her home to Carlisle.
Donald and Barbara Reisinger
live in Carlisle and Barbara has
been herdsperson for James and
Judy McClure, who the on which
they live farm, for about seven
years.
“I feel great,” Barbara said about
Flair’s win. “I’m very attatched to
her. She’s like a pet. She’s really
easy to work with. I enjoy showing
her and I’m really glad she won.”
But Hair’s showing career is
only starting for the year. This
coming week, she is to be heading
for Syracuse, N.Y. for the North
east International Holstein show.
She showed there as a 2-year-old,
the same year she was nominated
All-American. Hair’s next appear
ance in Pennsylvania will probably
be at the Southcentral Holstein
Show, Barbara said.
Gor-Wood-D Farms, of Man
sfield, well-known for having
dozens of Excellent cows in its
herd for a number of years, was
named premier breeder and exhibi
tor, but failed to take any of the top
awards.
The reserve grand champion of
the show was a senior 3-year-old,

animals exhibited by junior-aged
exhibitors.
The reserve grand champion
Holstein in the youth division was
Daview Mark Gina, a 5-year-old
