All third year members, who
represent the graduating class,
were presented with individual
tractor trophies in recognition of
their completion of the three year

servation officer of Union County, presented the award
during the FFA’s annual parent-member banquet.

lug, Brian Reber, Jeremy Stafford, Brandon Stamm, Brad
Stroup, Jeremy YOder, and Charles Zechman.
Leßoy Troestcr, Jr., received a Northeastern Farm
Credit ACA Award for the best project record book in a
21-county region for the second consecutive year. Daryl
Ebersole received a Northeastern Farm Credit ACA
Award for the best project record book in Union County
for the third consecutive year a first in the program’s
history.
I.lBa Ewig received an award from the Pennsylvania
Game Commission for her wildlife project book, which
placed second in northcentral (10-county) division
competition.
Daryl Ebersole, Gisela lipgrund, Travis Joy and Leßoy
Troester, Jr., woe recognized for receiving scholarship
awards for four years. Other scholarship awards went to
Brandon Chappell, Jeremy Dorman, Fred Grove, Jr.,
Joshua Keister, Roger Kuhns, Tom Musser, Brian Reber,
Jennifer Rishel, and Michael Sauers.
Erinn Middleton, FFA north central regional vice pres
ident and a former Miffiinburg FFA member, was the
speaker for the program.
Installed as 1994-1995 officers were Lucas Criswell,
president; Jayme Benner, vice president; Chad Digan,
secretary; Joshua Keister, treasurer, Fred Grove. Jr.,
reporter, Kevin Gessner, sentinel; and Matthew Christ,
chaplain.
Recognized as retiring officers were Leßoy Troester,
Jr., president: Daryl Ebersole, vice president; Jayme Ben
ner, secretary; Lisa Ewig, treasurer, Daniel Oberlin, sen
tinel; Lucas Criswell, reporter; and Matthew Christ,
chaplain.
Support for the banquet was provided by the Miffiin
burg Bank and Trust Company, Northern Central Bank,
and Northeastern Farm Credit ACA.
Advisers to to the Miffiinburg FFA are Glenn Spangler
and David Woodling.
HAPPENINGS
The reorganizational meeting of the Lancaster County
4-H Swine Club was held at the Lancaster Farm and
Home Center on Thursday, March 10, at 7:30 p.m. The
meeting was called to order by Livestock Extension
Agent Chester Hughes.
Record books are handed out, after which we saw a
video on some tips for raising feeder pigs.
Election of officers was held as follows: president,
Tina Umbrell; vice president, Melissa Becker; secretary,
Amy Bollinger; assistant secretary, Suzanne Miller, trea
surer, Travis Donough; asisstant treasurer, Corey Pfautz;
and news reporters, Kyle Ward and Ryan Donough.
