UNIVERSITY PARK (Centre
Co.) A student in Penn State’s
College of Agricultural Sciences
is participating in a Pennsylvania
program designed to be a model
for President Clinton’s National
Service Program.
Howard Pope, a junior from
Philadelphia majoring in agricul
tural and biological engineering,
is a participant in the inaugural
year of the Pennsylvania Service
Corps, one of eight pilot programs
across the country.
“The Pennsylvania Service
Corps works like a domestic ver
sion of the Peace Corps,” Pope
said. “In return for a year of ser
vice, participants receive a living
wage and, at the end of the year,
$3,000 to apply to educational ex
penses. At the same time, worthy
organizations receive professional
assistance they otherwise might
not be able to afford.”
Under the auspices of the corps.

Pope coordinated volunteer activi
ties such as cleaning Shaver’s
Creek, painting the Women’s Re
source Center, visiting nursing
homes and youth centers, and
helping with the Pitt/Penn State
Blood Drive.
These experiences were so
positive that he was eager to put
more effort into community ser
vice. He has postponed his
graduation date in order to put
most of his time into the corps.
Our 1130 Sickle-Type Mower Conditioner is as easy on
your wallet as it is on your fields. Because our stub on stub
guards give you top quality cutting at down to earth prices.
See, we developed the 1130 with an over-frame
flotation system for a more narrow width and high
maneuverability. So you'll glide through the roughest
areas with ease.
Plus, our fully engaged 110" conditioner allows aggres
sive hay conditioning for faster drying. It'll also clear itself of
crop jams with its own automatic plug release.
And on the road, the 1130's Swing Cylinder lets you
switch from field to road position just by pushing a
hydraulic lever.
Stop by your AGCO/Hesston dealer listed here and
ask about our flexible financing programs on the 1130.
Or on our wide selection of equipment, all backed by the
AGCO Warranty Program. ,
