ville. The goal is to raise $750,000
for the construction of a headquar
ters building, five bams and show
rings, an outside horse ring, plus
driveways and parking. State Rep
resentative Art Hershcy is heading
up the fund raising campaign and
close to $300,000 has already
been given or pledged.
The dairy farmers of Chester

sale of donated animals, semen,
and other dairy-related products as
their contribution to this worthy
cause.
At the present time, around 40
registered and grade animals have
been pledged. Holsteins, Jerseys
and Ayrshires are represented.
Also, a number of ampules of se
men have been donated by various
\.l. companies and cooperatives.
Practically all the income from
this sale will go to the 4-H Center.
Expenses will be minimal because
of the generous donation of lime
and labor by many dairy farmers
and 4-H members. Leon Kurtz,
Cochranville, will be the auction
eer free of charge, and many vets
in the county are doing the requir
ed health work at no cost. Sale
committee members will arrange
to haul the animals free to the sale
locations, and the Fairgrounds an
being provided at a minima
charge. Hay, straw and grain foi
the sale animals has also been do
nated.
This commitment by the dairy
industry in Chester County shows
strong support for 4-H and youth
in general. The Center will be
used for 4-H club meetings,
shows, sales, roundups and other
activities. It will eventually pro
vide a meeting place for large Ex-
salespeople and you’ve got it all!
