Country House Restaurant, Glen Rock, 7 p.m. Tioga County Holstein Associa tion annual meeting, Whitney- Chester Sale WEST CHESTER (Chester Co.) , Chester County dairy farmers are joining the campaign to raise funds for the Romano 4-H Center of Chester County. They will have a sale of donated dairy animals on Saturday. April 2, at II a.m. at Solanco Fair grounds in Quarryville. Members of the sale committee have been contacting dairy farm ers and have received over 30 Ayrshire, Holstein and Jersey ani mals plus other contributions to date. When the calves and heifers are sold, the proceeds will be giv en to the 4-H Center Building Fund. The goal of the sale committee is to have a sale with minimum ex penses so that practically all of the income can go to this worthy cause. To achieve this goal, many people are donating their time. Leon Kurtz, Cochranville, will be the auctioneer, committee members will haul the animals to the sale, the fair committee is charging very little for the use of their facilities, and 4-H members and leaders will prepare the ani mals to be sold. Chester County ranks fifth in Pennsylvania in the sale of dairy products, and the continued pros perity of the dairy industry is con tingent on today’s youth being to morrow’s farmers. The new 4-H Center will be home to all 4-H youth and their families in Chester County. 4-H Club meetings, shows. FOR OVER 75 YEARS Lancaster Fanning, Saturday, February 26, 1994-A27 South Central N.Y. RC&D Grass lands Expo, Howard Johnson’s (Fred’s Inn), Norwich, N.Y., 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Dairymen To Hold For 4-H Center sales, roundups, and other activi ties will be held at the center. It will eventually provide a meeting place for large Extension meetings and, when not in use by Coopera tive Extension, it would be avail able for use by community groups. Currently, it is necessary to conduct many of these events in non-central locations, often out side of Chester County and at rent al facilities. This has resulted in a loss of identity for the 4-H pro gram and a lost opportunity for youth to work and play together. The total 4-H Center fund-rais ing campaign from all sources is aimed at raising $750,000 for con struction of facilities. The dairy industry’s contribution through this sale will not only raise some funds toward this goal, but will also signify their commitment to the youth in the county. The opportunity to undertake the development of a 4-H Center has been made possible by a most generous donation of IS acres of land by the estate and heirs of Fi orre A. Romano of West Brandy wine Township. The land is along Route 322 between Guthriesville and Honeybrook. The sale committee of 14 dairy farmers from all areas of Chester County is co-chaired by John St. John of Lincoln University (869-8745) and Mildred Seeds of Downingtown (269-0759). Any one interested in donating a dairy animal or offering other contribu tions should contact the chairper sons. • Cert Ogle Oats • Cert Hercules Oats Soybeans • Agri Pro 3220 • Agri Pro 4510 • Rohrer Brand 3750 • Rohrer Brand 3775 • Rohrer Brand 3850 • Rohrer Brand 4010 HOLLAND EXTRA BALER - BINDER TWINE s* ville Fairgrounds, Whitneyvil- Ic, 7:30 p.m. ■Noon
