NEW ENGLAND: Cartoned egg prices
were unchanged lo higher on all sizes, y
steady to firm. Demand was moderately
good in most areas, as the bitter cold temp
eratures were causing consumers to buy
mote eggs. Supplies were generally suffi
cient to meet current needs.

Movement of ready-to-oook whole birds
continued moderate to good. Seller offer
ings varied from fully adequate to
instances closely cleared. Live supplies
were moderate. Weights were mixed in a
full range. Processing schedules were very
heavy. Lets than trucklot asking prices
were generally unchanged at 52 to 64 cents
Trade sentiment was mostly steady to
weak. In the parts complex, leg quarters
continued to clear to an active demand.
Boneless skinless breasts were readily
available and difficult to place. Other parts
were adequate and in fairly good balance.

GLANCE: Prices were unchanged to high
er in the Northeast and Midwest, and
unchanged elsewhere. The market tone
was fully steady to firm. Demand was fair
to good, best into retail channels. Supplies
were barely adequate to adequate, and
extra eggs were held or offered with confi
dence. Breaking stock supplies were held
with confidence, and buyers paid higher
prices to secure needed shell eggs. Live
hen maikets were about steady, and offer
ings were mixed, but generally at least
adequate for the light to moderate demand.
