Farm-City Winners Announced
HARRISBURG (Dauphin Co.)
State Secretary of Agriculture
Boyd E. Wolff presented plaques
to representatives of two Farm-
City Committees and checks to
three youngsters for their artistic
talents last week at the Pennsylva
nia Farm Show.
The presentations were made
on behalf of - the Pennsylvania
Farm-City Council for individual
and group efforts to promote
farm-city relationships.
A plaque was presented to the
Franklin Farm-City Week Com
mittee in recognition of their tire
less efforts to help urban and rural
citizens understand and appreciate
their dependence on each other.
“Organizers of Farm-City
activities in Franklin County have
been farm-city leaders for many
years,” according to Secretary
Wolff. “During the past year, they
have organized displays, service
club activities and tours, held an
pumpkin caper, apple festival,
dairy farm open house, poster con
test, radio and newspaper
announcements, job exchange
program and banquet.”
The second award of recogni
tion went to the Tioga County
Farm-City Committee for its ima
ginative efforts.
“Tioga County’s Farm-City
efforts serve as an example for
other counties across the Com
monwealth,” Secretary Wolff
said. “Organizers of Farm-City
activities in Tioga County held
tours, displays, exhibits, demon
strations, job exchanges, radio and
television programs, and an appre
ciation dinner. They aslo helped

seventh grader at Blairsville
Junior High, qualified for the State
Poster Contest by entering the
Indiana County Fair and winning

sheep while he’s at the Farm Show
this week.
