CfrLancwtw Farming, Saturday, January is. 1994 First KILE, Now ANDY ANDREWS Lancaster Farming Staff HARRISBURG (Dauphin Co.) —An Angus junior yearling heifer that won grand champion of the Keystone International Livestock Exposition (KILE) last year became supreme champion beef heifer on Monday at the Farm Show. The animal, an early junior yearling heifer, Indian Creek Della (S:Da Es Ro Casey, D: Indian Creek Delores), is the result of five years of “breeding the right cows to the right bulls,” said Richard Wilson, exhibiting for Indian Creek Farm, Stahlstown. According to Wilson, this was the first grand champion beef ani- mal for Indian Creek at the Farm Show. The animal’s genetic line came from Ontario, Canada, according to the exhibitor. Grand champion overall bull went to an early summer yearling Limousin bull exhibited by Sugar Maple and Courtney Church, Dayton. Both the Angus and Limousin overall champions competed against other breeds, including Charolais, Polled Herefords. and Simmentals. Reserve grand in the Angus heifer show was awarded to Weaverland Valley Farms, New Holland, for KJC Senorita Carlot ta, an early junior yearling heifer. Bull grand champion in the Angus division went to Ml Valley Angus, Lititz, for Mt. Valley Dutchman, an April junior yearling bull. Mt. The grand champion Charolais heifer went to KC Acres, Abbotts town, exhibited by Travis Sher man, for KC Alyss 28. Reserve went to Ray and Mary Grimes, McKnightstown, for SMF Joy 221. Both were early spring yearling females. Grand champion Charolais bull went to Dunkard Valley Farm, Dallastown, for DVF Pound Mak er 822, a summer yearling bull. Reserve went to the summer senior yearling bull, HTF Tall Cool Saphire, exhibited by Glenn Turk, Warren. Polled Hereford grand champ ion heifer went to Spring Bottom Farm, Fairfield, for SBF Royal Duchess 9209, a late junior year ling heifer. Reserve went to Salun ga Acres, Mount Joy, for Louada TS Lass 4SB, from the same class. Grand champion Polled Here ford bull went to Salunga Acres for an early summer yearling bull, Salunga Baron S4B. Reserve went to Spring Bottom Farm for a senior bull calf. SBF Royal Rancher 9215. In the Simmental division, grand champion heifer was awarded to Dodi Johnson, Ligo nier, for LVF B 11 Valley Girl, a late junior yearling heifer. Reserve went to Joseph Messick, Middletown. Messick, Middle town, for MF White Shadow C 35, a junior bull calf. In the final class, Limousin, grand champion heifer went to Sugar Maple and Courtney Church, Dayton, for GPFF Dazzle, a late junior yearling heifer. Reserve was awarded to a late summer yearling heifer, GPFF Black Polled Latonya, exhibited by Lori Limousin, Scottdale. Grand champion Limousin bull went to an early summer yearling bull exhibited by Sugar Maple and Courtney Church, Dayton.
