A new year and a new start
And yet I would suppose that de
spite our best intentions most of us
will continue in our old ways. Ha
bits are so hard to break.
Maybe we go to bed too late or
get up too late in the morning. But
it is so nice to have some quiet
time at the end of the day. Maybe
we eat a bit too much, but again, it
does taste so good.
It is so easy to talk before you
think about how the words will af
fect someone else. Just the other
day, I thanked a. neighbor for the
“little loaf of bread.” Now I cer
tainly didn’t mean to emphasize
iwcaatar Firming, Saturday, January 1,1994-111
the word “little” but it sounded
that way. You can’t take the words
back once they are spoken.
Last week I had the opportunity
to take care of our two grandsons
for two days, I may have been a bit
out of practice to care for a two
week-old but he was a good baby
for me.
The three-year-old and I played
a lot of games as he just had a
birthday and received many pre-
sents. He wanted the same books
read to him over and over again
despite the fact that he had lots to
choose from.
We do not have the chance to
see most of our grandchildren
grow up as they are scattered over
the country. So, we are thankful to
have some nearby and we hope the
new year will bring more good
things than bad things.
