Bradford County
Jacob Guffey, Bradford County
extension director, said something
new is coming to Bradford. A
satellite dish has been installed at
the extension office and will be
used for teleconferences and
workshops. This will allow local
workshops to receive programs
from Penn State and to directly
interact with the faculty there. The
first scheduled workshop is in
February on dairy nutrition. Those
interested should contact the
extension office.
Amy Van Blarcom, Bradford
County dairy princess, addressed
the western group. She discussed
the talk she usually gives to non
farm people and, with humor, she
related the way these people view

DHIA Dinner Meetings Held
In the awards, top honors went
to Rob and Donna Van Blarcom of
Columbia Crossroads. Their Hols
tein herd was number one in both
milk and protein. 28,752 and 886
pounds respectively. They were
also first in Pennsylvania in the
milk category.
The Holstein herd at the Scot
Lyn Dairy in Rome was first in
butterfat (750 pounds), and sec
ond in milk, (25,563 pounds).
In the herd management
awards, Rob and Donna Van Blar
com topped the list again with 138
points. In second place was the
Holstein herd of Pat and Pam
Salerno of Sayre with 117 points.
The Holstein herd of Randy and
Lisa Walker of Wyalusing was
third with 107 points.
Top place for low somatic cell
count went to Clyde and Greg
Seeley of Canton with their Hols-
