Walter Wurster WEST CHESTER (Chester Co.) Chester County DHIA held its annual banquet and meet ing at West Fallowfield Christian School. A ham dinner was enjoyed by over 13S members, family and friends. The treasurer’s report showed the organization to be in sound financial shape. Currently, the county has eight full and part time technicians testing herds. In the election of directors, Jeanette Brooks, Parkesburg, Ken Brown, Pottstown, Marilyn Hcr shey, Cochranville, and Dave Stauffer, Elverson, were selected for three-year terms. Chester County Dairy Milk Lines Extension Dairy Agent her relations and education for PA DHIA, addressed the meeting. She gave an update on the annual state convention and talked about new programs and how the state orga nization is striving for better com munication with members. Noim Hershey, Slate Director from Lancaster County, and Dave Shenk, PA DHIA fieldman for Southeastern Pennsylvania, also spoke to the group. Chester County Dairy Day Chester County Extension programs will start out early in 1994 with Dairy Day on Thurs day. January 6th, at the Oxford Fire Hall. The day will begin at 9 a.m. with coffee, donuts and time to visit with the various dairy industry exhibitors. Adjournment will be by 3 p.m. The program, which is coordi nated with Berks and Montgomery/Bucks Counties, will feature top-of-the-linc speak ers on practical subjects that dairy farmers need information on today NUTRITION, REPRODUC TION, AND FEET & LEGS. According to Lawrence Hutchinson, DVM, a Penn Slate Extension veterinarian, the univer sity, with funding from several industry organizations, has pro duced a video and a slide-script program on “Preventing Non- Ambulatory Cows.” According to an announcement made this week, the 17-minute VHS video is priced at $35 and is available through the Ag Informa tion Services.
