Cumberland PHIA Recognizes Outstandr
HUNTSDALE (Cumberland
Co.) Steve and Mary Reese,
Newburg, and Curtis and Ann
Day, Shippensburg, were recog
nized as having high production
herds at the Cumberland County
Dairy Herd Improvement Asso
ciation’s annual meeting last week
at Huntsdale.
Steve and Mary Reese’s herd of
31 registered Holsteins averaged
24,022 pounds of milk and 764
pounds of protein making their
herd a dual award winner with
both high herd in protein and milk
production.
Curtis and Ann Day’s herd of
54 registered Holsteins averaged
877 pounds of butterfat qualifying
as the high herd in butterfat. Curtis
and Ann Day also received the
high 2-year-old milk production
honors with an animal in their
herd called Darling, a registered
Holstein producing 1086 pounds
of butterfat.
No. 44 in the Roy E. Deitch and
Sons’ herd, of Carlisle, was recog
nized as having the high 2-year
old record in protein production.
As a 2-year-old she produced 901
pounds of protein in 305 days.
Fred McGillvray’s cow Gloria
produced 29,708 pounds of milk
last year making her the high
2-year-old record in milk produc
tion.
