As a result, a meeting will be held next week to help pro ducers learn how to control PRY, and highlight some of the things producers can do inex pensively to rid the virus from their herds. To learn more about how to control the pseudorabies virus (PRV), swine producers are invited to attend a special meeting scheduled Tuesday, November 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the Bergstrasse School. The meeting on “Swine Health, Profitability and Pseudorabies” is an informational and discussion opportunity for pork producers and ag business, according to the Vet erinary Science Department at Penn State. Abe Fisher, president of the Pennsylvania Pork Producers Council and PRV Eradication Effort chairman, urges producers to attend the meeting so “we can learn to wipe it out across the country. “The only thing to do is to have everyone work together to clean it up at one time," said Fisher. Speakers include Dr. Amy Nes selrodt and Dr. Paul Pitcher, who will discuss the current PRV situa tion in Pennsylvania; a producer panel to cover what is working and what isn’t regarding PRV control; tracking PRV and the cost of PRV, by Dr. Bill Sischo; a feeder pig vaccination project in Lancaster County, by Dr. Paul Pitcher, and Pennsylvania Pork Producer Council and funding PRV control, by Abe Fisher.
