For the second year, Franklin County 4-H Beef Club member Spencer Walk of Cham bcrsburg, determination and hard work paid dividends as his 1.270 pound Angus-Chianina crossbred steer became grand champion under the watchful eye of Dr. John Comerford. Comerford praised the steer for his wide loins, smooth finish, and thick quarters at the annual beef show. Spencer also placed first in fitting and showing in the senior division. The grand champion was purchased that evening at the 4-H Beef Sale by Hoss’s Steak and Sea House for $3.10 a pound. Crystal Meyers of Greencastle won the reserve grand champion honors with her 1,240-pound crossbred steer, which was pur chased by Chambersburg Farm Service for $2.25 a pound. Crystal also won the champion fitting honors. Lightweight champion honors went to Brad Rife of Greencastle with his 1,160-pound Limousin steer, which was purchased by McDowell Insurance for $1.04 a pound. Tim Mackey of Waynesboro won the medium heavyweight division with a 1,205-pound crossbred steer, which sold for 87 Deerfield Ag & Turf Confer, Inc.
