tives (PCQ were called forward at
this organizations annual meeting
awards banquet to be honored for
their exemplary efforts and dedi
cation to cooperatives.
At the banquet, held at the Nit
tany Lion Inn in State College on
November 2, Master of Ceremo
nies Robert Reich, President &
CEO of Northeastern Farm Credit,
introduced Alan Bair of the Atlan
tic Breeders Co-op who then pre
sented the 1993 Distinguished
Service Award to Carol M. Merc
ner. Farm Credit’s Director of
Member and Public Relations.
Bair said, “Carol Mercner has
served on local PCC committees,
on the regional board and state
board, and has made major contri
butions to each. Mercner exhibits
sincerity and professionalism, is
hard-working, enthusiastic and
energetic.”
Mercner joined Farm Credit
part-time in 1974 and went full
time in 1979 as Marketing Mana
ger. She has served on various
Farm Credit committees and has
received the Baltimore Farm Cre
dit District’s President’s Award.
Mercner served as PCC’s presi
dent since 1991 and earned the
National Cooperative Month
Cooperative Communicator
Award in Washington, D.C.

tor of Member and Governmental
Affairs for Milk Marketing. Inc.
The Master Educator Award,
awarded since 1968, goes to any
individual who has gone beyond
normal duties to promote coopera
tive education and activities, and
is open but not limited to, agricul
tural teachers, extension agents,
and co-op leaders.
Perry, Meabon said has spent
long hours charming audiences
across the nation, speaking from
the heart on what he believes in -
the cooperative method of doing
business.
Perry manages Milk Market
ing’s communication, member
benefit and farm supply programs.
He also serves as spokesman for
the organization in Washington.
Perry has served on PCC’s board
of directors and on the Public
Affairs and Education
Committees.
Harry Roth, General Manager
for Atlantic Breeden Cooperative,
then accepted the Hal F. Doran
Cooperative Business Education
Award from Dr. Shannon Stokes.
Prof, of Ag Economics at Penn
State. Stokes commended Roth’s
leadership in working with others.
Roth, in his acceptance speech,
said this award exemplifies his
