HUNTINGDON (Huntingdon Co.) With the harvesting sea son in full swing on farms, this is no time to forget safety. Every attempt to remind opera tors and workers of safety first should be make whenever possi ble. There are some new warning signs designed to promote safety on farms and other agricultural operations are now available. The five signs alert farm work ers to potential hazards of manure storages, fires in oxygen-limiting silos, pesticide storage areas, and pesticide-treated fields or facili ties, said Mr. Dennis Murphy, pro fessor of agricultural engineering. One new sign is designed to be placed at each entrance to below ground or covered manure stor ages. “This sign has a simple graphic depicting a person being over come by deadly manure gases,” Murphy said. “You get the point even before you read the words, which warn you to enter the pit only with a self-container air sup ply, ventilation, rescue harness, and someone standing by with a mechanical lifting device.” PIG SAVER “DUTCH CRATE” Developed through tasting in our loosorch forms ths goal «ms to do Volos a onto that nsarly ollml natas crushing, duo to lay one, unmatched durability and bo oasy to work around.
