    Quality 5-Year-Old Takes New Holland Dairy Cha

NEW HOLLAND (Lancaster
Co.) A large 5-ycar-old Hols
tein from a Roybrook Tempo sire,
which would look “good in any
state show you’d want to put her
in" according to the judge, was
chosen grand champion cow at the
New Holland Sales Stables Annual
Dairy Show and Sale Wednesday
afternoon. ■
Paul King, Moorefield, W.Va.,
chose Lydor Tempo Jackie, a cow
exhibited by Harold and Donald
Welk of Stonehurst Farm, Stias
burg, champion of the show. King
told the exhibitors and buyers at
the start of the sale that the “gal is
abigcow” with a lot of show qual
ity. The grand champion was pur
chased by Harold Fraley, Muncy,
for $3,450. Fraley said the cow
was purchased for a farm in
Quarryville.
Reserve champion, a 4-year-old
Holstein, was exhibited by Jacob
Kramer, Mechanicsburg, and
Charles Myers, Lancaster. The
cow sold to Marvin Miller. Stras
burg, for $3,700.
The grand champion’s records
included, three years. 13,620
pounds of milk, S4lf, 450 p and
five-year records of 15,260 pounds
of milk, 648 f, S2Sp. Dam was
Lydor Triple Justene, VG-85,
V+EV at five-year record of
19,890 pounds milk, 740 f, and

Haywood-Red sire and Carvale

selected best udder milking cow.
Of all the classes, top selling
animal came from the 2-year-old
dry heifer class, Walkerville Roxy
Conquest, which sold for $3,850,
exhibited by Stonehurst Farm.
In the mixed breed dry cow
class, Danny Albright sold his first
place cow for $2,550. -Stonehurst
Farm sold the second place animal
for $1,575. Third place shown by
Leroy Baker was sold for $1,325.
In the mixed breed fresh cow
class, Ralph Albright sold his first
place animal for $1,775. Second
place, shown by Danny Albright,
sold for $1,250. Third, shown by
Danny Albright, sold for $1,500.
In the 2-year-old dry heifer
class, first place, shown by Stone
hurst, sold for $3,850. Second,
shown by the same, sold for
$2,000. Third, shown by M. Eshle
man, sold for $1,650.
In the 2-year-old fresh heifer
class, Jay McCoy sold the first
place animal for $3,500. Second,
shown by Leroy Smucker, sold for
