84-Lancaster Farming, Saturday, October 23, 1993 Berks Farm Women Hold 42nd Convention The 42nd Annual Convention of Berks County Farm Women was held at the Berks County Agricultur Center with 110 mem bers and guests in attendance. The theme was “Keep a Song in Your Heart;” Fem Phillipy, president, opened the convention, with all the wom en reading a poem followed by singing America the Beautiful. Berks Co. Dairy Princess Jenni fer Grimes, who is also Pa. prin cess, shared with her presentation of “An Eienstein or a Farmer.” She introduced the Lil Dairy Prin- J ' Stoltzf vhr State presl Jlpyptv representing the 4-H program. Berks Farm Women raised the money to be used toward the 4-H building program. Marie Baughman, Heifer pro ject representative came with her cute stuffed “Holli,” the heifer, to the convention. Group presidents each gave their reports on happenings of the past years events. Memorial serivce was conduct ed by' Doris Brown from Group til, ’,d by Shirh Tolli Fem Phillipy, Sonja Moyer, and Wendy Ungle. Those remember ed were Dorothy Batdorf Group #ll, Betty Stump and Mary We ber, Group #2 and Helen Borcher, Group #3. A delicious ham and stuffed chicken breast dinner was served by Wegman’s Caterers. The after noon session opened by singing “There is Singing in My Heart” words written by Helen Schmehl from Group #2. Tulpehocken High School Show Choir sang un der the direction of Byron Hart man. Fern presented Arlene Witman with a check for $367 for her heif er project - the state project this year - indicating 100% participa tion of Berks Co. members. Sandra Rauenzahn was in charge of Berks County’s quilt raffle and the proceeds with checks of $873 each were present ed to Berks Co. 4-H Building Fund and also the Salvation Army to aid the flood victims in the mid west.
