Correspondent DAIRY SHOW Once again the Tanis family of Ideal Holsteins in Centre County swept to the top in the Blooms burg Fair dairy show competition. At this year’s 139th fair, held September 25-October 2, the supreme dairy breed champion and grand champion of the Hols tein show was Jacky Validate Ritz Cracker. This five-year-old Vali date daughter, along with Ideals Vintage Anya, the junior champ ion female, and first place winners in the intermediate heifer calf, summer yearling heifer, junior yearling heifer, intermediate year ling heifer, junior get-of-sire, junior three best females, junior two-year-old, senior two-year-old, best 3 females, dairy herd, and dam & daughter classes, made Ideal Holsteins the Premier Breed er and Premier Exhibitor of the Holstein show. Judging the ISS animals shown by 68 exhibitors in the Holstein show was Gordon Wood of Gor- Wood-D Acres in Mansfield. The reserve grand champion was Cele brity Mark Saphire, an aged cow shown by Janice Jurbala of Orangeville. Saphire also won the best udder of show. For reserve junior champion the judge chose Ritters Logic Whistle, a senior yearling heifer exhibited by Duane Ritter of Muncy. County Herd award went to Columbia- Luzeme, followed by Lycoming, Northumberland-Montour and Schuylkill Counties.
