Bedford County Farm Wins Big At National Guernsey Show

ners, trophies and ribbons from
the National Guernsey Show held
last week in Harrisburg in con
junction with the Pa. All Ameri
can Dairy Show.
The All-American Dairy Show
is one of the nation’s top dairy
competitions. Over 2,500 entries
are vying for $78,000 in prize
money and the prestigious titles of
All-American champions.
The show is sponsored annually
by the Pennsylvania Dairy and
Allied Industries Association in
cooperation with the Pennsylvania
Department of Agriculture and
Farm Products Show
Commission.
Gable’s 3-year-old, “Sniders
Telestar Heaven,” was selected
the grand champion female, the
best senior female bred and owned
by the exhibitor, and winner in the
Pennsylvania 3-year-old Guern
sey futurity.
Snider Homestead Farm also
emerged as the premier breeder
and premier exhibitor of the show,
and winner in the classes for best
three females and exhibitor’s
herd.
Picking up honors for the junior
champion female was the Ander
son family of Kennedy, New
York, with “Sher-Beck Bionic
Sally.”
Charles Luchsinger of Syra
cuse, New York, was the official
judge.

days, Tina milked 24,144 pounds
milk, 4.3 percent and 1,030
pounds fy and 3.4 percent and

“I sent my father to look at her
in Ohio, and bought her without
seeing her,” said owner Ernie
Kueffher. “She calved in May
with a heifer, after having twin
heifers last year for her previous
owner. We showed her 18 days
after calving; she was champion
and best uddered of our North
Carolina state show. I like stylish
cows, and she’s a wonderful cow
to work with.”
Tina won best udder honors last
year in her class at the Madison,
Wisconsin, show. Exhibited again
at the Royal Winter Fair in Toron
to, Canada, she was Erst and best
uddered 3-year-old, and selected
best udder and reserve of the Roy
al’s intermediate-age-cow champ
ionship. Among Tina’s honors are

Excellent. She is sired by Duncan
Saint John, and her dam is Pens
mith Magician Mindy. In her
3-year-old, 365-day lactation,
Mindy finished with 15,510
pounds of milk; 4.4 percent, or
682 pounds of fat; and 3.6 percent,
or 565 pounds, of protein.
She was recently named the
supreme dairy winner at the Mary
land State Fair and was first
3-year-old and honorable mention
grand champion at the 1992
National Jersey Show.

4-year-old owned by Palmyra
Farms, Hagerstown, Md., and
bred by Brandon Covey, Oklaho
ma. Scored EX-90, Rosetta’s cur
rent lactation, at 335 days, is at
26,070 pounds of milk, with 4.2
percent or 1,103 pounds butterfat,
and 3.5 percent, or 912 pounds
protein.

entry at last week's All-American,

honors at both the 1991 and 1992

30th annual Pennsylvania All-
American Dairy Show, events,
which included the state junior
dairy show on Sept. 20.
