Not only did the 15-ycar-old from Strasbuig take the grand champion title but also the reserve champion market lamb title at the New Holland Flair on Wednesday evening. The five weight champions shared in $3OO prize money, with the champions receiving $5O each and the reserves $25 each. The prize money was provided by an anonymous donor. In all, there were a total of 73 hogs, up from previous years, and 24 exhibitors. Following is a list of show placings. NEW HOLLAND SWINE SHOW RESULTS FITTINQ AND SHOWMANSHIP Lamb Championship Goes To Lisa Reiff lie Chintz calls “visually ideal muscled lambs from end to end." In senior showmanship. Chintz complimented Lisa for her smooth, fluid manner of position ing her sheep. Chintz told the youth competing in showmanship, "The object of showmanship is for the judge to notice your lamb. If you are con stantly fiddling with your lamb’s legs, I don’t notice the lamb but the shomman.” First place in intermediate showmanship went to Jenny Justin Good, left, won champion hog at the New Holland Farm Show swine show Tuesday night. Hoover, Schoeneck, and in the first year showmanship division, Jason Redmond ofPlowville placed first Jenny, the daughter of Marty and Lois Hoover, said that she and her two sisters have an 18-head flock of Hampshires and crosses. The sisters share responsibilities, which involves running the sheep through hurdles two times daily. Jenny said that she gets up at 6 a jn. and runs with the sheep. Jason, a member of Twin Valley FFA and in his first year of show ing, credits Tereasa Anspacht of Governor Mifflin for teaching him showmanship techniques. Champion and reserve breeding sheep honors went to Keith Bollin ger who showed Cheviots. Hie champion named Puff is an aged ewe. The reserve was a run lamb. Keith’s brother Jeff’s Suffolks took reserve champion ram and ewe. Because Jeff attends Penn State (Berks Campus), he was not able to show his sheep so Keith showed both his own and his brother’s sheep. Keith, 14, said that he raises five Cheviots at the family’s Ephrata home. Keith and Jeff are brothers to Jerry, who took top places in breeding competition at Ephrata and Denver Fain. Twins Jeff and Jerry each have a flock of Suffolks. In addition to Lisa showing the middleweight and heavyweigth champions in the market lamb competition, the lightweight champion was shown by Derick Bollinger and the reserve by Renee Hoover. The middleweight reserve champion went to Randall Reiff of Ephrata. The heavyweight reserve went to Jason Hertzog.
