Junior exhibitors from Illinois
famed the Brownell Combs Me
morial Trophy for exhibiting the
best state group of animals. Sec
ond place was won by Oklahoma
juniors and third by Texas. Twen
ty-year-old Tammy Riffel, Enter
prise, Kan., earned the premier ex
hibitor award for the fifth conse
cutive year. Heather Hicks was the
premier junior breeder, while the
premier senior breeder award
went to Greg and Gail Alsup of
High Prairie Farms, Fair Grove,
Mo.
Also presented during the show
was the Lewis Memorial Award, a
scholastic award that recognizes

Curt Stockdale, Dayton, Pa., exhibited the champion
cow-calf pair at the 20th Junior National Polled Hereford
Show. His bred-and-owned entry was CS Miss is Flag 21 A,
a 2-year-old GS Checkered Flag daughter, and her April
heifer calf by Beau Donald Rival. Stockdale is the 15-year
old son of Dennis and Jo Stockdale and will be a sopho

$5OO scholarship went to Michael
Poss, Harlem, Ga.

The Polled Hereford breed’s
annual Junior National is one of
the largest single beef breed
shows in the nation. It enables jun
ior members, ages 7 to 21, to
showcase their breeding pro
grams, to be involved and to ex
pand their leadership abilities.
The Class 16 Winner and Division IV Bred & Owned
Champion heifer at the 20th Junior National was exhibited
by Curt Stockdale, Dayton, Pa. CS Lady 28, a February'
1992 heifer was sired by JCD NV Ascendant Y 26.
