The Keystone Inter national Livestock Exposition is in its 37th year at Harris burg. The Exposition is recognized nationally as a show case for the nation’s top beef cattle, swine, sheep, and horses. It will be held at the Farm Show Complex in Har risburg on September 30 - October 4, 1993. Along with a huge array of livestock, the Exposition will include commercial and educational exhibits, top qualify entertainment, and a tantalizing assortment of foods prepared by various Pennsylvania commodity groups. DAILY THURSDAY THROUGH SUNDAY Being featured daily at the Keystone International Lives tock Exposition are the Stockman’s Trade Show, the Bar nyard where young and old alike may touch, pet, and feed the animals, Educational Exhibits, Agricultural Com modity food booths, and strolling entertainer, The Pied Piper, along with musician, Ray Owen. Another daily attraction is the “Racing Pigs” Show featuring the Hatfield Racing Pigs. Each 15 minute show features 4 heats. The average lime for a trained racing pig to run around the ISO foot track is 7 seconds. THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 30-MEDIA DAY The Keystone International Livestock Exposition offi cially begins at 8:00 AM with the Pinto and Appaloosa Horse Shows. The Media Pig Race will follow at 4:45 where local television stations will have their designated animal entered in the competition. The Livestock Person of the Year and Outstanding FFA and 4-H Livestock Members will also be recognized, FRIDAY, OCTOBER l-STOCKMAN’S DAY Breeding sheep judging will begin at 8:00 AM. The Quarter Horse Show begins at 8:00 AM along with the breeding swine AT 9:00 featuring various breeds. Sim mental Cattle are featured at 12:30 PM. Throughout the afternoon, various classes will be conducted including cattle and sheep. At 6:00 PM the Keystone Classic Sale will take place. Sponsoring the “Challenge of the Breeds Show” at 7:00 PM is Glatfelter Insurance Group of York, PA. The animals, two from each breed, will be chosen by their respective breed associations. In order to compete, the horses must be owned by a Pennsylvania resident. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 2-KID’S DAY A busy day begins with the Draft Horse Halter Classes at 7:00 AM, followed by the Intercollegiate and Junior Livestock Judging Contest at 8:00 AM. Judging begins at 8:00 AM for sheep and continues throughout the morning. A spe cial attraction at 12:00 noon is the Keystone Lead Line, an attractive combination, as sheep and shepherd are dressed in their finest. Also at 12:00 noon Lebanon Val ley National Bank is sponsoring the Agri-Kid Olympics. Farm-related competitive events will be held for children. At 1:00 PM the Paso Fino Horse Show is featured fol lowed by additional Draft Horse Hiu li classes at 7:00 PM. Wool judging begins at 3:00 PM and the Yearling Bred Ewe Sale. The Suffolk Yearling Bred Ewe Sale begins at 6:00 PM followed at 6:30 by the Feeder Calf Sale. SUNDAY, OCTOBER 4-FAMILY DAY At 8:00 AM A family sunrise church service will be held. Junior Beef Breeding Cattle judging begins a< 8:00 AM. Begin ning at 8:00 AM is the Draft Horse hitch Classes, fol lowed by the Duroc Barrows on-Foot at 9:00 AM. At 10:00 is the Jr. Breeding Sheep. The Live Hog Evaluation Contest is scheduled for 12:30 pm. \ busy day at the Expo continued with lambs, sheep, and hog judging throughout the rest of the day. MONDAY, OCTOBER 4 As the Keystone Inter national Livestock Exposition enters i - last day, there is still a very busy schedule. Th Arabia forse Show will begin at 8:00 AM. At 8:30 A vl the Ox.ord, Cheviot, & Montadale Breeding Sheep will be shown. 9:00 AM is a busy time slot with Angus Breeding Can ; e and Open Bar rows On-foot.
