Who’s the Head of the House? which appeared in Lancaster Farming on Aug. 21. As a Christ ian woman, I would appreciate the opportunity of sharing my person al testimony. I agree wholeheartedly with Mr. Althouse when he contends that we cannot honestly explain away the biblical view of God’s plan for the human family, when we read Eph. 5:21-24. My only choice lies in whether or not I choose to obey what God has re vealed to me, or to turn my back in rejection and disbelief. I choose to believe for God, and His Word are the only absolute treasures I can possess. For in the end, only God and His truth will stand. Mr. Althouse alludes that 40 years ago, the idea of the wife be ing in submission to her husband was accepted by a wide margin who claimed Christianity. I would like to ask your readers this ques tion: Have the changes in home life, as the nominal church took a liberal stand, produced strong famililes, or emotionally dis traught individuals with little or no moral inhibitions? (Continued from Pago A 10) I am happy to be the wife of a godly man who strives to lead our family in serving Christ. My hus band would not enjoy being a ‘boss’ or a selfish commander. Rather, with love toward us (Eph. 5:25), he strives to lead us in ful filling God’s purpose in our lives. I appreciate his sacrificial leader ship, and thank God for the bless ings of contentment and rest He gives to our family, as we follow His prescribed plan. We, as a family, are glad that God has not authorized us to go through the Bible and disqualify portions we do not comprehend. If a portion of scripture seems incon sistent to us, it is either because we lack understanding in the vari ous doctrines God has woven through His Word, or because we have taken that scripture out of its context I firmly believe that God does, indeed, command us to literally follow the Bible. “If a man love me, he will keep my words...” John 14:23. A radical change from the world’s point of view? Most certainly so! For in the chaos that envelopes the world today, God’s way is the only way that works! Edith S. Wittier Spring Grove
