Joan Jones, Pastor of Salem United Church of Christ, Spangsville, and Jean Deysher, a teacher in the Oley Valley School District, gave an enjoyable illustrated slide pre sentation, of their trip to El Salva dor, to the nine members attending the meeting. The members will be attending the County Convention in the Agricultural building October 2. Plans are being made to go for breakfast, October 14, to celebrate Farm Women’s Day. Devotions were led by Hazel Newcomer. Members answered the roll call by telling “who taught them to drive”. “Outdoor Cooking” was the program presented by Doris Thomas. The group is planning to go to the Dutch Apple Theatre to see “Phantom” Thursday evening, October 14th in observance of Farm Women’s Day. The County project is the “Christ Home for Children”. Members were asked to bring program suggestions for next year to the Sept, meeting which will be held September 11 with Elsie Bol linger as hostess. The group celebrated the 80th year birthdays of Helen Howard and Catherine Yanos with a birthday party. Also, Levi and Bettye Weg man of Oley spoke and showed mementos of their recent trip to Russia. President Ruth Walters then presided at the business meeting. Eighteen members were present, as was Annette Salm of Oley who was installed as a new member at the meeting. Plans were finalized for the group’s annual picnic which was held on August IS in Levengood’s Grove. The September 1 meeting featured a sing-along with Naomi Howard of Oley as hostess. President Ruth Landis attended the August County Executive Board Meeting. “Christ Home”, Paradise is the society’s County Project for 1993. Edna Buckwalter will be hos tess for the September meeting.
