    Hewitt Shows Chester Champion
WEST CHESTER (Chester
Co.) The 1993 Chester County
4-H Swine Show and Sale "Was
held at New Holland Sales
Stables.
Judge Bob Mikesell had a chal
lenging evening as 70 hogs were
entered. Grand champion market
hog of this year’s show went to
Vicky Hewitt of Spring City. The
250-pound hog was purchased by
Hatfield Quality Meats for
$2.90-pound.
The reserve grand champion
John Reinlnger, Hatfield Packing, is pictured with Vicky
Hewitt and her grand champion market hog purchased by
Hatfield for $2.90-pound.

ion weighed 2SS pounds and sold
to Hatfield for $2.25-pound.
The grand champion trio was
exhibited by Jason Wagner of
Spring City. The 725-pound trio
was purchased by New Holland
Sales Stables for $1.25-pound.

bited by Eric Marsh of Honey
Brook and was purchased by
Leidy Packing of Shorthorn for
$l;30-pound. Eric’s brother Tom
exhibited the reserve champion
lightweight, which was also
bought by Leidy’s for
$1.20-pound. Jody Hewitt, Vic
ky’s sister, exhibited the reserve
champion heavyweight which was
purchased by Keystone Farm Cre
dit for $l.lO-pound.
Champion senior showman was
David Howe of Downingtown and
reserve champion senior show
man was Kasey McAllister of
Spring City. Champion junior
showman was Jon Howe and
reserve champion junior showman
was Nathan Howe, both of
Downingtown.
Trophies will be presented to
these individuals at the annual
livestock awards banquet in
February, courtesy of the
Lancaster-Chester County Pork
Producers Council.
The sale averaged $.97 on 70
hogs sold. Volume buyer of the
day was Hatfield Packing.
A number of 4-H members
donated percentages of their hogs
sold to the 4-H Center Building
Fund. These members included
Eric and Tom Marsh, Matt Beam,
Jody Hewitt, and Angela Stolt
zfus. David Howe and Jason Wag
ner both donated the proceeds
from an entire hog to the center
fund. Total money raised for the
center from this endeavor totaled
$887.77.

Yoder’s Restaurant in
New Holland.

the cooperative’s
1992-1993 fiscal year
and dairy industry
issues.
During the meeting,
officers, delegates and
alternate delegates will
be elected for the com

will represent the local

tive’s annual meeting in
November.
