There’s good quality all the way through. That’s what judge Credin Corman, a dairyman from Carlisle, had to say after selecting Hearts Desire Ajet Char ity, as grand champion of the Cen tral Pennsylvania Championship Holstein Show held August 21 on the last day of the Huntingdon County Fair. Owned by Eugene and June Corl of Hearts-Desire Holsteins, near State College, this home-bred 4-year-old won the state show last fall and was also selected best bred and owned of that show. At the championship show, this daughter of Bridon Astro Jet-ET won the daughter and dam award. Her mother placed first in the aged cow class. Coming in as reserve champion was 5-year-old Solid Gold Rotate Easter owned by Michael D. and Cynthia Weimer of Solid Gold Holsteins. Grand champion by a junior exhibitor went to Lory Baker and her junior 3-year-old Globe-Run CB Topgun Olso, sired by Globe- Run Warden Topgun. Matt Kline of Vem-Lee Hols teins won reserve grand champion by a junior exhibitor with his senior 2-year-old, C Vogeldale Counselor Karsi. Earlier in the show, June Corl won junior champion of the open show by showing a fall yearling heifer, Garden-Acres Cathy, own ed by SCC Syndicate which includes Frank Connelly, Fred Strouse, and June Corl. Reserve junior champion of the open show went to Greta Snider and Singing Brook Tribune Audrey, a winter yearling heifer. This heifer also won junior champion by a junior exhibitor. Reserve honors by a junior exhibi tor went to Troy Young with JCY Starbuck Alexandria - ET, a Spring Yearling Heifer. Huntingdon County Posts Youth Dairy Show Results GAIL STROCK Mifflin Co. Correspondent HUNTINGDON (Huntingdon Co.) The Huntingdon County 4-H and FFA Dairy Cow Show opened at 9 a.m. on August 16 with two type judges and two showing judges ready for the double-ring contest. 4-H’ers and FFA’ers brought their Ayrshires, Jerseys, Guern seys, Milking Shorthorns, Hols teins, and Brown Swiss for place ment by type judges Steve Shaw of Martinsburg and John Burkett of East Freedom, and showing judges Eric Stine and Nancy Toms, both of Mifflintown. In the Ayrshire event, Doug Varner’s FFA senior 2-year-old, Rippling Brook Chads Barbie, won grand champion while Dan Varner won reserve grand champ ion with his FFA dry cow Rip pling Brook Chads Christine. Both animals were sired by Maple Dell Chads IRS. Mike Brent took both junior champion and reserve junior champion. He showed Rushing Springs Mose Misty, a winter calf, for grand champion and Rushing Springs Comet Bet ty. a junior calf, for reserve Junior Globe-Run Farm earned pre mier exhibitor and premier breed er awards. Ideal Holsteins placed first in the junior best three females class followed by Autumn View Hols teins and JCY Farms. In the best three females class, Globe-Run Farm placed first, Mammoth-Spring Farm came in second, and Luxury Holsteins placed third. Produce of dam class competi tion saw Luxury Holsteins in first place, Spring Lane Farm in sec ond, and Paul Hartle third. Hearts-Desire Farm placed first in the dam and daughter class with Paul Hartle in second and Autumn View third. The show was a memorial tri bute to Carl J. Todd Parsons earned grand champion of the Guernsey show with his senior 2-year-old Parsons Farm Telestar Gina, sired by Lyn dale Bonus J Telestar. Reserve grand champion went to Apryle D. Hoover with a Guernsey sired by Dutch Mill Telestar Fayette. Todd Parsons also took junior champion with his Summer Yearling Par sons Farm Telestar Mitzy and reserve junior champion with spring yearling Parsons Farm Telestar Maggie. Both animals were sired by Lyndale Bonus J Telestar. The Milking Shorthorn show saw the Goshom family taking all top honors. Grand champion went to Mark Goshom while Monica Goshorn won reserve grand champion.
